Oldcastle school to get multi-million euro extension
A MULTI-MILLION euro extension of St Oliver’s Post Primary School in Oldcastle has been given the green light by the Department of Education.
It involves 10 new classrooms, including science, engineering rooms and textile rooms.
Four mainstream classrooms will be delivered, six special education rooms, as well as facilities for engineering and science.
St Oliver’s is one of the largest secondary schools in the county and has a growing student body from across North Meath.
Fr Ray Kelly, chairperson of the school's board of management welcomed the news.
“We are delighted to have got confirmation. This extension is very badly needed,” he said.
Senator Shane Cassells who had pressed the case for the application with Minister Norma Foley, also welcomed the news.
“I want to congratulate St Oliver’s on getting the green light for the finance for this major extension,” remarked Senator Cassells.
“This school is one of the largest educational facilities in County Meath and this is a massive statement of endorsement by the government for the school’s future.”
