Christy Moore to perform for full house in Athlone this weekend

Legendary folk singer Christy Moore returns to Athlone tomorrow (Saturday) night where he will be performing in front of a packed house in the Dean Crowe Theatre.

The solo concert is all but sold out, with the venue announcing this morning that "the very last few remaining seats" had just been released and were available to book on its website.

Christy Moore is no stranger to the town, having performed in the Dean Crowe and in the Radission hotel on a number of occasions over the last decade.

He has previously spoken about how his grandfather, Christopher Moore, hailed from Athlone.

The singer's current album, 'Flying Into Mystery', was released to critical acclaim last November.

Last month, he posted on Twitter that he had tested positive for Covid-19 and had to reschedule one of his gigs, but that he was "feeling ok".

He has since returned to the stage, performing last Monday at a concert in Dublin's Vicar Street to raise funds for The Irish Red Cross Ukraine Appeal.
