'Road from Joe Dolan Bridge to Clonmore Industrial Estate would ease traffic problem'

The solution to traffic problems in Mullingar is to get HGVs out of the town and one way to do that is to provide a link road between the roundabout at the Joe Dolan Bridge and the Clonmore Industrial Estate, according to Cllr Denis Leonard.

Addressing the monthly meeting of the Municipal District Council, he said that it was vital to get HGVs off the main streets and asked for a detailed timeline on the proposed link road.

He was told that a survey of this scheme has taken place and preliminary design is under way.

It is hoped that a detailed design will be completed by the end of the third quarter of this year, but the director of services, David Jones, could not say when the road would open – he would have to ask the transport section.
