Raharney United U16s draw with high flying Enfield Celtic
Enfield Celtic 3 Raharney Utd 3
Raharney United travelled to Enfield to play a team in top form and sitting second in the table. It was a humid day and with only two subs it was going to require a huge effort from all to get a good result. The first half was very even with very few chances early on. The Raharney midfield of Robert and the two Dans held its own showing great tenacity in the tackles. With 30 minutes on the clock, Alfie played a great through ball which put Guillermo 1 v 1 with the keeper. Guillermo calmly flicked the ball around the keeper and finished, 1 nil to Raharney.
Enfield finished the half strong, with a few corners, but our defence held strong.
The second half started with Enfield really pushing for an equaliser, but our defence and goalie were keeping them at bay.
Against the run of play Raharney broke away and Alfie again made a chance for Adam Glynn to score. Enfield pushed on and made use of the bench with lots of substitutes to keep them fresh. The heat and effort started to take a toll and as we tired Enfield finally got on the score sheet. The pressure really started to build, but again Raharney broke and got a third from Alfie, 3 -1 with 14 minutes left.
Raharney had to reshuffle when Jamie went off injured and Enfield scored two goals late on to tie the game. Kon made 3 huge saves late on to ensure we got the well deserved draw. Man of match very difficult to pick, everyone put in a huge effort, special mention to Alfie with two assists and a goal, Kon with some great saves late on, but not fair to single out one player when whole team and subs performed so well against a top team. Well done everyone.
