Presentation School athletes run ‘Mile with a Smile’ at Santry stadium
Following the ‘Mile with a Smile’ initiative launched by Westmeath Sports Partnership in conjunction with Athletics Ireland in March, a group of children from Presentation Senior School were invited to take part and run the mile in Morton Stadium, Santry on Monday, May 23.
The children had the opportunity to take part in different athletic stations; sprinting, javelin throwing, high jump and long jump.
They got to run with the promising athlete Efrem Gidey, who has many national successes under his belt, and took part in a musical drum workshop with Minister for Sport Jack Chambers.
The minister then started the official Mile with a Smile jog and each child was awarded a medal for participation.
