Thankfully the sun decided to shine just as the proud pupils of Dalystown National School raised their first Green Flag.
Dalystown Green-Schools co-ordinators, Caroline Tynan and Anna Monaghan were delighted with how the day went. They were thankful to all those who contributed to the day and had special praise for the work the children had done.
This was a real team effort and a wonderful occasion for the school. The children, their parents and relatives were joined by Captain Tom Kelly and the Army Band for what was a memorable event.
Special guests on the day included Cllr Hazel Smyth, Westmeath County Council environmental awareness officer John Jackson and Catherine Whelehan from the Rochfortbridge Tidy Towns Committee.
The Dalystown Green-Schools Code, ‘Keep our Planet alive so Life can Thrive’ is now rooted in the ethos of the school.
