Family Fun Day in Whitehall today to raise funds for Adam Boyce

A large crowd is expected at Ringtown GAA grounds today for a very special Family Fun Day organised by Diarmada NS, which will raise funds for one of its most popular pupils.
Adam Boyce (6) has cerebral palsy, and requires expensive specialist equipment, including a wheelchair, to improve his quality of life.
His school has decided to organise a Family Fun Day to raise much needed funds for one of their own.
Adam’s mother, Danni, said everyone is invited to the fun day which takes place at Ringtown GAA from 1-4pm today, Saturday June 4.
“The idea did come from his school, they thought of having a fun day. We’re fundraising for Adam’s equipment, but also half of the money will go towards the school,” Danni said.
Danni said they will have competitions, bouncy castles and even a cycle challenge organised by the guys doing Mondello24, the 24-hour endurance cycle to raise money for Adam.
Danni said that she and her family are so grateful for all the support they have gotten from the local community, and that Adam feels like a celebrity.
“He does like to watch his Instagram and keeps an eye on social media and who is liking his pictures,” Danni laughed.
“It’s absolutely mental, the kindness we’re seeing. It’s made our lives so much easier; we’re starting to see that Adam’s equipment can come a hell of a lot quicker than we thought,” Danni said.
Danni added that the equipment will go a long way in giving Adam more freedom.
“He’s getting on really well. He has just gone on his first school tour without any of us with him. We got the loan of a wheelchair so he could go himself. He is loaning that to see how he will get on,” Danni said.
Adam has a busy weekend ahead, as he will be receiving his Garda uniform on Sunday as he becomes part of the Little Blue Heroes.
Little Blue Heroes Foundation is a not-for-profit charity ran by volunteers made up of Garda members/staff, retired Garda members, their families, friends and civic minded people from communities. It aims to help families in need who have children undergoing long-term medical treatment for serious illness.
Recently Adam met one of his own heroes, Bressie, who took time out of band rehearsals on The Blizzards’ album launch day to talk to Adam and sign his books.
