New political movement to hold protest in Mullingar

A new political movement which charges the government and supranational institutions with “destroying Irish society” is to hold a demonstration in Mullingar next weekend.

Sovereign People describes itself as “a people’s movement consisting of a collaborative network of individuals and groups from all around Ireland who are dissatisfied with the corrupt power structures currently destroying Irish society”.

The movement, which has already established a presence in Westmeath, is organising a ‘Hold the Line’ event in Mullingar on Saturday June 18, starting at 2pm.

The phrase ‘hold the line’ refers primarily to people gathering in a line to hold up protest signs, but it is also an encouragement to people who are unhappy with how Ireland has been governed in recent years to “hold the line” and resist.

The group, which includes former Aontú councillor Dr Anne McCloskey, is strongly opposed to the changes and attempted changes to the social contract in Ireland since the Covid-19 pandemic. It is vociferously opposed to mask and vaccine mandates, and to Ireland’s ratification of the WHO Global Pandemic Treaty, which it states will copper-fasten “the diktats of an unelected international body” into Irish law.

Sovereign People is also concerned about what it sees as a concerted effort to undermine Irish neutrality, which has intensified in the wake of the Ukraine war. It is also critical of moves to introduce digital passports and digital currency, hate speech laws (which SP says threatens freedom of expression) and what it views as an ongoing attempt to undermine property rights.

The group says that it came together in the last two years as a “small but significant minority of Irish people took to the streets when they had their businesses forcibly closed, were confined to 5km from their homes whether healthy or not, and were coerced to take experimental medical treatments”.

“Many people in Ireland are now aware that our government does not operate to serve the best interests of the Irish people, it instead serves the interests of global banks, corporations and international bodies such as the UN, EU and WHO,” the group states on its website, www.sovereignpeople.ie.

“The reason it does this is that those individuals who do are well rewarded for doing so. Furthermore the mechanisms and institutions that are supposed to safeguard against such practices such as the media, judicial system and police are also captured agencies.

“Greed and corruption, it’s always been a problem where power is concerned but in the last few years it has gotten so blatant and out of control it is obvious even to the most trusting in our society.”

The Mullingar ‘Hold the Line’ demonstration takes place along the main road at Robinstown, Mullingar on Saturday next at 2pm.
