Streete Vintage team host their 20th anniversary show

Kevin Brady was able to relax, just a bit, as Sunday went on and it was clear that the 20-year edition of Streete Vintage Show was going well, despite the awful rain.

“It’s 2022 and this time 20 years ago we had our first annual vintage show – unfortunately, history has repeated itself and we have one of the wettest days in living memory at the vintage here in Streete,” said Kevin.

“Unfortunately... but we’re very grateful to all our loyal supporters and fans who’ve turned out, who came here today from long distances and locally to support us, as usual.

“It’s unfortunate that for the last two years Covid put us out of the game for vintage shows, as it did throughout the country, but lookit, we’re alive, we’re here and we’ll keep going and hopefully we’ll be back again for a bigger and better show next year, when we’ll celebrate our 21st birthday in style.”

Because of the persistent heavy rain, there was more of a crowd indoors, where Olivia Douglas was providing the music, when the Westmeath Examiner visited Streete in early afternoon on Sunday, but there were enough breaks between the showers for enthusiasts of vintage machinery to get out and inspect what was on display; for pet owners to show off their beloved animals; and for the younger visitors to enjoy the fairground.

The rain makes it difficult for any outdoor event, but the hard working team behind the annual Streete Vintage Show can be satisfied that they made a successful return post-pandemic as they already start to think about the 2023 event.
