"Take time from your busy day and let your artistic side out,” says Mullingar artist Carole Shubotham, who brings art to life at her cottage studio near Belvedere House.

Since graduating from College of Art and Design in Dublin, Carole has had her paintings shown in renowned galleries including the RHA Gallery in Dublin and The Prince’s Trust Show in London.

She taught art at the Burren Art College and had weekly art classes in the RDS for four years.

Living in Mullingar for more than 30 years, Carole's new art venture, ‘Ramble and Draw’ has taken off and many locals are enjoying the activity every week.

The group meet at Lock 26 Cafe at Coolnahay Harbour and are encouraged to “let their artistic side out” as they walk along the canal banks and draw together.

Carole welcomes artists of all abilities and she supplies the paint, paper, pencils and notebooks.

She also brings along small fishing chairs so everyone can sit and relax.

Her next ‘Ramble and Draw’ event is this Friday, July 8, at Coolnahay Harbour at 10am and costs €25.

Carole hosts her weekly workshops in a studio that is in a “magical location” in Paslicktown, Mullingar, just down from the Belvedere House and Gardens.

Due to Covid, she cut the number of participants in her classes but is now able to welcome more.

“I have had incredible feedback from everyone who has participated in my workshops," said Carole.

“Everyone from last year has come back and by putting up flyers locally, I am getting new faces every week.”

You can keep up to date with Carole’s workshop dates on her Instagram page and on Facebook.
