Smyth wants Pride crossing at Mullingar Town Park

A Pride pedestrian crossing at the entrance to Mullingar Town Park has been requested by the town’s mayor, Cllr Hazel Smyth.

Addressing the July meeting of Municipal District of Mullingar Kinnegad, she said it would show that “we are progressive and welcoming”and spoke of the excellent work being done by the Pride community locally.

Director of services, David Jones assured the meeting that the council was supportive of the proposal and would examine it in the context of pedestrian crossing guidelines. He said his colleagues in the transportation section would figure out the mechanics of it.
