Water refill stations to be installed around Mullingar
Water refill stations are to be installed in and around Mullingar to reduce plastic waste, a move that has been warmly welcomed by the town’s Mayor, Cllr Hazel Smyth of the Green Party.
At the July meeting of the Municipal District of Mullingar Kinnegad, she was told that refill stations are to be installed at the arts centre, in Market Square and Dominick Square and at the swimming pool and two more on the perimeter of the town.
At the same meeting, Cllr Smyth was told that Knockeyon Hill is privately owned and not available to the public as a walking trail, but a feasibility study can be considered for an M4 Outdoor Recreation grant.
Cllr Smyth also asked how many Airbnbs are registered with the council. Director of services, David Jones, undertook to get updated figures.
