Local film-makers to mark Collins centenary with premiere

Mullingar film-making duo Jason Ó Fionnáin and Bartle D’Arcy will premiere their multi-award winning short film The Collector as part of the Michael Collins centenary in the Imperial Hotel in Cork on Sunday August 21.

The Imperial Hotel was where Collins spent his last night alive. The Collector features Pat O’Hagan, who has the largest private collection of Irish revolutionary material (1913-23) including Collins’ army revolver and Thompson sub-machine gun.

A new adventure film, The Cathach of Fionnán, is currently in production under Jason and Bartle’s capable direction, and features locations in Mullingar including footage shot at the recent Fleadh.
