It's official - Mayo TD Dara Calleary to replace Troy as Minister
Mayo TD Dara Calleary is to replace Robert Troy as Minister of State in the Department of Enterprise, Trade and Employment.
The announcement was made at Cabinet in the last hour.
The Fianna Fáil TD was earlier tipped as a potential candidate, along with James Lawless and Niamh Smyth.
Last week Taoiseach Micheal Martin accepted the resignation of the Longford Westmeath TD over his failure to accurately declare his property interests.
Calleary has been a Fianna Fáil TD for Mayo since 2007 and served as a junior minister for Labour Affairs from 2009 and 2011 before his short stint as a Cabinet minister in 2020.
He resigned from his role as Minister of Agriculture following the Golfgate controversy.
Cabinet ministers signed off on Deputy Calleary’s promotion this morning.
