Solar farm given the green light

Planning permission has been granted for a solar energy farm just outside Mullingar.

The planning application by Shanonagh PV Ltd includes details for the construction of an electrical substation building, inverter substations and the installation of solar PV panels on a 42 hectare site in the townlands of Parcellstown and Shanonagh.

According to the successful application, the solar farm will be operational for 35 years.
