Mullingar businesses hear about Budget 2023 at breakfast briefing

There as a full attendance from the local business community at the Mullingar Chamber Budget breakfast briefing in the Annebrook House Hotel this morning.

The event regularly follows the annual budget announcement, and Budget 2023 was published yesterday, Tuesday September 27 ,by Minister for Finance Paschal Donohue.

There was an early start as members of the Mullingar business community gathered in the Annebrook this morning for the event, sponsored by Jigsaw Better Business.

Allyson English, Jigsaw Better Business; John Geoghegan, president Mullingar Chamber; and Joe McDonnell and John O’Connell, Stephens Cooke.

John Geoghegan, president, Mullingar Chamber, began proceedings for the event by welcoming all those attending and thanked businesses for their continued support of the chamber and its initiatives in helping to promote Mullingar.

John reminded those in attendance about the Mullingar Gift Voucher, which can now be spent in more than 110 businesses locally.

The tax-free bonus is now €1,000 and vouchers bought from Mullingar Chamber can be a significant help to the local economy ensuring money stays within the town.

John thanked Peter Burke for his attendance and his support in Mullingar.

The summary of Budget 2022, presented by John O’Connell and Joe McDonnell from Stephens Cooke and Associates, summarised the measures that have been put in place for the upcoming year. Stephens Cooke and Associates had worked late into the night on Tuesday evening preparing the presentation and Budget summary booklet that attendees could bring away with them after the event.

Peter Burke, Minister of State at the Department of Housing, Local Government and Heritage, spoke to the crowd and acknowledged the great work done by Stephens Cooke in compiling the information for the budget breakfast.

Mullingar Business Awards

John Geoghegan closed the event and discussed the Mullingar Business Awards, which are to be held on November 4 this year. The event will have music by Taobh na Mara and the Afters and the panel of speakers includes Minister Paschal Donohoe, Mags Brennan (PTSB), Shane Keating (Ardonagh) and Ted Wright (Writech).
