The Annual Awards Ceremony for St Finian’s College was held on Monday September 26. After two years of pandemic restrictions, the college were delighted to have the opportunity to celebrate the achievements of their students. Awards were presented in a variety of areas including academic and sporting.
It was also an opportunity to honour some past students who have achieved notable success in the sporting arena, Westmeath footballer, Anna Jones, Westmeath camogie player, Megan Dowdall, Westmeath hurler, Kevin Regan, Westmeath county footballers and winners of the inaugural Tailteann Cup, Ronan Wallace, Ronan O’Toole and Jonathan Lynam.
These sports alumni were presented with special trophies on the night, and indeed it was a great thrill when they, in turn, presented the sports awards to the present students.
Special awards were also presented to students for their outstanding Leaving Certificate performances - Johanna Naughton, Darragh Casey and Ciaran Maher.
Overall the event was an uplifting occasion marking the start of the new school year.
