Vintage run funds presented to IMNDA
The proceeds raised from the North Meath Vintage Club annual road run in September were handed over to the Irish Motor Neurone Disease Association last night.
The event was dedicated to Susan O’Connor Egan, Moygrehan and Clonmellon, RIP, who raised funds for the Irish Motor Neurone Disease Association despite coping with her own illness.
More than 30 pre-1990 tractors set off from Kiernan’s Bar, Carlanstown, for a trip of 15 miles through Fletcherstown and Wilkinstown bog area, and back to Kiernan’s for refreshments.
Last night a presentation to the IMNDA was made in Kiernan’s – the proceeds amounted to €1,700.
The cheque was presented by club chairman Jimmy Weldon to Claire O’Connor, mother of Susan O’Connor Egan.
The club would like to thank Susan’s parents Paul and Claire, sister Louise and brothers David and Stephen, Susan’s husband Paul and especially her children Senan and Kate.
The event organisers also expressed their thanks to the Kiernan family for hosting the event and to Phill and Ruth Cahill for looking after all the tractor drivers, and to all who supported the run in any way.
