Former Wilson's student appointed ambassador at St Patrick’s for a second time
Following a university-wide recruitment process, Aoife Ryan from Westmeath has been appointed student ambassador in St Patrick’s Pontifical University, Maynooth.
A former student of Wilson's Hospital School, this is Aoife’s second year to be appointed.
On her re-appointment, Aoife said applying again for the second year "was very much inspired by my experience at St Patrick’s Pontifical University".
"As a final year, BATh degree student at St Patrick’s Pontifical University, I can safely say that this degree option is the perfect entry route for anyone interested in teaching," begins Aoife.
"I am very grateful for this course and looking back, I believe this degree option has in fact served me better as I am gaining a more in-depth knowledge into both Irish and Theology, before embarking on my Professional Master’s in Education. I very much want to continue my ambassadorship this year as an advocate for the University and the realm of possibilities my course is providing”, she added.
Following a successful pilot programme last year, ambassadors are a vital link for incoming students, assisting with orientation activities, providing campus tours and being on hand with advice and recommendations on how best to transition from second level into life at university. The student ambassadors will also assist at university events throughout the year passing on their firsthand experiences of life at St Patrick’s.
St Patrick’s Pontifical University is located in Maynooth. Maynooth is unique in being Ireland’s only University town. The town and campus are extensions of each other. Students enjoy the benefits of having all the amenities they need close at hand without the busyness of a large city, while still being very accessible to Dublin which is only 30 minutes away and served by excellent rail and road links.
