'Awful' Belvedere playgrounds need an upgrade, says Davitt

A claim that the playground equipment at Belvedere House has not been updated in at least nine years has been made by a local councillor.

Cllr Aoife Davitt raised the issue for discussion at the November meeting of the Mullingar Kinnegad Municipal District, stating that she looked recently at pictures of her now-nine-year old son playing there when he was a child, and the equipment has not been changed.

“It needs to be painted; needs to be upgraded. It is awful,” she said.

The response from the executive stated that it was acknowledged that an upgrade of the playground is desirable.

“Funding opportunities will continue to be sought in this regard, as they arise,” the response stated.
