WATCH: Virtual Remembrance Service in Mullingar Hospital
For the third year in a row, Regional Hospital Mullingar held their annual remembrance service virtually.
This year the team in Mullingar Hospital created a video with poems, prayers and readings that will allow people remember their loved ones in their own time and in their own unique way.
Emma O’Sullivan, Bereavement Nurse Specialist, in Mullingar Hospital said: “Although this is the third year, we’ve had to hold our Remembrance Service in Regional Hospital Mullingar, virtually, we were determined to create a video that would reflect the care and respect the staff want to show families affected by loss. We’re hoping that our next remembrance service will be in person, however, the thought and care put into this virtual service was just as meaningful we feel.”
Traditionally November sees Healthcare workers across Ireland mark Remembrance Month. This allows staff and families to organise events and ceremonies to remember those who have passed away over the course of the previous twelve months.
The End of Life Committee at Regional Hospital Mullingar would like to thank Karl Gibney of Gibney’s Stonework for donating the plaque and Ciaran McIntyre of McIntyre Construction who sponsored our remembrance tree in memory of their late colleague Alan Hickey RIP.
Prior to the Covid-19 pandemic, Regional Hospital Mullingar hosted remembrance services for all bereaved families. These services brought great comfort to families and staff alike.
This virtual remembrance video is the hospital’s way of reaching out to the community and letting all those who are bereaved know that they, and their loved ones who have died, are in the thoughts of staff and management in Regional Hospital Mullingar.
