WATCH: Locals' version of 'Fairytale of New York' goes down better than Glen and Imelda's

A local version of The Pogues' all time Christmas classic 'Fairytale of New York' has gone down a lot better than Imelda May and Glen Hansard's rendition on the Late Late Show on Friday night.

The song and video were recorded in 2020 by Ray Dolan and Deirdre Mulvey for Mullingar and District Musical Society's virtual Christmas Show in 2020.

The local version has gone down very well with viewers on YouTube.

One poster commented that Ray and Deirdre "outdid Imelda and Glen for cert".

"You both did a great job , would have preferred to see your great version on the Late Late Show last Friday!"
