Update on native woodland scheme proposed for Delvin
A response is still awaited from the Department of Agriculture on a 'native woodland' scheme proposed for Billistown, Delvin, Cllr Hazel Smyth was informed at the January meeting of the Municipal District of Mullingar Kinnegad.
Cllr Smyth, who had requested an update on progress on the proposal, was told in a written reply from the district executive that specialist forestry advisors had submitted a completed application to the Department of Agriculture in September 2022 seeking funding.
“We would expect a formal response to this application from the department in the second or third quarter of 2023,” the reply concluded. Cllr Smyth, who is mayor of the municipal district, asked that the council write to the Department of Agriculture to see if anything might be missing from the application.
