Christian Voices Together's climate change presentation 'dramatic and challenging'

Lighten Our Darkness by Numbers, ALL SAINTS CHURCH, MULLINGAR

A group of young people made a presentation on climate change that was “dramatic and challenging” at All Saints Church as part of the Week of Prayer for Christian Unity, on Sunday evening.

Hosted by Christian Voices Together, the Lighten Our Darkness by Numbers event examined climate change through the eyes of faith, said Rev Alastair Graham.

Saying that the presentation was “dramatic and both inspiring and challenging,” he pointed out that there are currently more than two billion Christians in the world, the largest faith group, “and the young leaders show the difference Christians can make to help repair the damage to God’s creation”.

He said the young leaders have embarked on an imaginative programme in the 13 churchyards in the parish and are turning them into oases of rich biodiversity.

Following the presentation, it is hoped that the churches in the Mullingar area will work closely together to help restore, with others, the amazing gift of creation which God has given to humanity, said Rev Graham.

Lighten Our Darkness by Numbers has been commended by Sir David Attenborough, who said: ‘It is wonderfully encouraging that so many young parishioners in All Saints’ Parish, Mullingar are taking such an active role in dealing with the world’s problems through Lighten Our Darkness by Numbers.’
