Community groups can resume activities after reopening of barracks gates
The gates at Columb Barracks were reopened this morning.
The 30 different community groups based their can now resume their activities. The news has been welcomed by the chair of the Columb Barracks Restoration and Regeneration Committee Helen Donnelly.
She says that the lines of communication must remain open between the different groups in the barracks and the government departments involved in the preparations for the arrival of 120 refugees and asylum seekers in the coming weeks.
Despite reports on social median over the weekend that the community groups were informed that they would have to leave the barracks, they have been given assurances that they will be able to continue to remain there following the arrival of the refugees and asylum seekers.
