McDaniel welcomed back by colleagues

There were warm words of welcome for Cllr Liam McDaniel who returned to the chamber of Westmeath County Council in January after a long period of illness.

Cathaoirleach Aengus O’Rourke led the way, saying the Fianna Fáil man had fought “one hell of a battle” and that each and every member of the council and its staff was delighted to see him back.

Cllr McDaniel confirmed he was happy to be back, and he thanked his colleagues, the staff and the Chief Executive for their good wishes to him during his illness.

“You managed the place well without me!” he joked.
