Keena sets up winner as Cheltenham secure vital away win
Aidan Keena is already making his mark at Cheltenham Town.
Sprang from the bench midway through the second half of his new club's League One clash away to Cambridge United with the scores tied at 1-1, the Mullingar native set up fellow substitute James Olayinka for what proved to be the match winning goal.
Cheltenham had taken the lead on 57 minutes with a goal from Elliot Bonds. Four minutes later Joe Ironside levelled things when he scored from the spot.
Keena was brought on for Charlie Brown in the 62nd minute and with 11 minutes left on the clock he recorded his first assist for his new club. After latching onto a pass from fellow Irishman and Cheltenham captain Sean Long, Keena pulled the ball back for Olayinka who planted it past the Cambridge 'keeper Mitov.
Speaking after the match Cheltenham's manager Wade Elliott praised Keena and his team mates for securing the club's first win in 2023; a win that puts them five points clear of the relegation zone.
Next up for Cheltenham and Keena is a home clash against fifth place Barnsley on Saturday.
