Yellow warning for snow and ice issued for Westmeath
Met Éireann is forecasting snow and ice in Westmeath and Roscommon tonight.
The national meteorological service issued a yellow-level snow and ice warning today, which will take effect at 9pm tonight and will remain in place until 9am on Wednesday morning.
They have warned of hazardous conditions due to freezing temperatures and icy stretches on roads and footpaths.
It will be cold and frosty tonight. Dry for most with cloud in the south gradually building up over Munster and south Leinster with a few patches of rain, sleet and snow moving into the far southwest. Lowest temperatures of -4 to 0 degrees, falling as low as -5 or -6 degrees in Ulster and the northwest.
