Keena named Player of the Month at Cheltenham Town
Aidan Keena has been named Cheltenham Town's Player of the Month for February.
The Mullingar native, who only joined the EFL League 1 outfit at the end of January, has really hit the ground running on his return to Britain and already has two assists and a goal to his name.
His first goal for the club came last Saturday, March 18, in Cheltenham's 3-1 home win against Exeter.
Speaking after the match he said that he was relieved to open his account for his new club.
"I'm delighted. I've been close over the past few weeks!
"I've seen Alf running, and I stuck with my man to put him under pressure. Thank God for the little left swinger into the net."
The former Sligo Rovers striker finished top of a fan vote to pick the club's best performing player over the month of February.
His arrival has coincided with a significant upturn in the club's league fortunes.
When he signed at the end of January, Cheltenham were in 18th place in League One, four points and three places above the relegation places. At the time of writing, the club had moved up one position to 17th place, and more importantly are now eight points above the drop zone.
