Hundreds of native hedge plants and trees sown in county last year
Native planting
Four hundred and 20 native hedging plants, 172 native trees and 3,000 pollinator friendly plants were sown by Westmeath County Council last year.
They also distributed 500 tree saplings for planting during National Tree Week to various community groups and organisations across the county.
Another 500 were secured to be distributed during National Tree Week at the end of March, and were available through Belvedere House and Gardens.
The details were released in reply to a query from chairperson, Cllr Hazel Smyth, at the March meeting of the Municipal District of Mullingar Kinnegad.
