Mullingar bike hire scheme continued and expanded

The bike hire scheme which was rolled out last year in Mullingar and Athlone is to be continued and expanded this year, members of Westmeath County Council heard at their March meeting.

In reply to Cllr Frankie Keena, it was stated that the scheme is going out to tender again to go beyond the pilot launched last year. The scheme will be self funded and more sustainable.

"It is intended to continue and expand it, given its success in both towns," director of services, David Jones confirmed.
