BREAKING: US President Biden will visit Ireland next week

It has been confirmed by the White House that US President Joe Biden will visit Ireland on Tuesday April 11 next, taking in Dublin, Mayo and Louth.

Mr Biden, who can trace his ancestry to Ireland's west and east coasts, specifically Ballina in Mayo and the Cooley Peninsula in Louth, will first travel to Belfast to mark the signing of the Good Friday Agreement 25 years ago.

It is understood that Biden will hold various engagements during which he will discuss the US' "close cooperation" with Ireland.

The US President will also deliver an address to celebrate the "deep, historic ties" that link Ireland and the US.
