Magnificent Seven for Mullingar Handball Club
Mullingar GAA Handball youth have captured the limelight in the club this week, with seven of our underage handballers receiving county 40x20 championship medals.
The ladies had a home venue in the finals on Wednesday last and played superb handball. Having only commenced through their school in January of this year, they have taken to handball with no hesitation and performed outstanding in the championship. The serves were remarkable and the footwork on point, allowing three of our young ladies to achieve the results needed to receive county medals and advance to represent Westmeath in the 2023 U13 Leinster 'B' and 'C' Championships.
Our boys had a trip out to the newly re-opened court in Delvin for their finals on Good Friday. Again, they outdid themselves and performed incredibly well on the day. We had some fantastic serving from our U12s representatives, with our U13s putting on a show with their roof shots, diving and kills before collecting four county medals to take back to the club and securing their place in the 2023 U12 and U13 Leinster 'B' and 'C' Championships.
Thanks is conveyed to Delvin Handball Club for hosting the games on Friday last and to all who refereed throughout the championship. Congratulations to all our youths in the championship, you have done the club proud. Best wishes to you all in the upcoming Leinster Championship.
Mullingar All Stars also had a great week when they were treated to a feast of Easter activities at Saturday’s session. Following their routine warm-ups and handball drills, they had all sorts of Easter throwing games to complete before taking part in the Easter Hunt. Well done to each and every one of the All Stars on all your hard work and we hope you all had as much fun as your coaches. Thank you to Gráinne and Enrico for your help on Saturday and also to the parents who arranged the hunt while the children were busy with their handball.
