Trade brisk at reopening of family business in Mullingar

It was all hands on deck at the grand reopening of CL Tool & Sales in a three-day event at their new premises in Mullingar Business Park.

Located in Zone C, next door to CL Recycling and just up the road from the NCT Centre, business was brisk as customers arrived in their droves to support the family following a blaze at the original site, beside the family home in Walshestown, last December.

In what can only be described as a ‘phoenix rising from the ashes’ moment, there was a jubilant feeling at the new site, as Groovy Grub served the best of food and coffee to the many visitors hoping to nab bargains among the many special offers on workwear, power tools and accessories available over the course of the three days.

All hands on deck! Kate, Martin and Hannah Lynch at the launch on Friday.

"It was tough after the fire, it was a huge loss," said Martin Lynch, the eldest of four siblings, including James, Elaine, and Caroline, "But we had a lot of support from builders and friends who came in to help – help with construction, or in any way they could," he says.

"We have been open here for the last while, as we had this unit purchased initially to extend the waste business, but when the fire happened, tools and sales just had to slot in here, we had to keep going.

"Predominantly Caroline and James look after this side, while myself and Elaine are on the waste side of the business, but we’re all helping here today. We’re a family business, so it’s all shoulders to the wheel.

Martin adds that the official opening was organised to "let everyone know that we’re still here, still in business, and to get the word out about where we’re located".

On Thursday, Husqvarna were on site to demonstrate their range of chainsaws and robotic lawnmowers, as were tiling experts Rubi, while there were also promotions on Snickers workwear.

Today it was the turn of DeWalt, who had more special offers available, attracting a packed showroom. Jefferson were also on site with offers on their entire range, while newly added brands, Carhartt and Steel Blue Footware were also launched at the event.

"We’ve had lots of support from customers past, present and new. You can see it here today – it’s great to see," adds Martin, who explained that the next generation of the Lynch family were also helping out, including the youngest – Caroline’s son Christopher, who is just nine months old.

"There are a lot of good people out there, and you can see that present here today. We’d just like to thank everyone for their support."
