Mullingar Pride host sold out fundraising events

Fundraising for this year’s Mullingar Pride Werk! Fest is progressing well and their first two events entertained sold-out crowds.

A drag show and quiz night at Danny Byrnes on Saturday April 1 featured lively performances from Celtic Tigress and Mullingar Pride chairperson Domino (Daniel Boyne) followed by music from DJ Levino.

The popular Drag Brunch drew another crowd to Daly’s bar on Saturday April 22, hosted by Domino and starring Minnie Buss, a Galway drag star.

The fundraisers gave a taste of what is to come, say the Mullingar Pride committee.

This year’s committee, a dedicated and united group of locals, are putting together plans to cater for the growing demand for Pride events in Mullingar and want to ensure the queer community feel welcome and celebrated.

“After the major success of last year’s Werk! Fest celebration, this year’s committee are looking forward to putting on another fantastic show,” said Eibhlin Fitzpatrick, committee member.

This year Werk! Fest will be more located in Blackhall on July 8. There will be well known drag queens, burlesque dancers and more entertainers. It promises to be a great day with something for everyone to enjoy, said Eibhlin.

Tickets go on sale Friday, May 5 – presale tickets sold out within the first hour so those interested will have to be quick this time around.

Before the big day, fundraisers planned include Paint and Prosecco, bucket collections and by popular demand, another Drag Brunch.
