'Highly commended' nod for Mullingar writer
Danny Dunne was honoured at the Maria Edgeworth Literary Festival last week when his poem 'Anna' received a 'highly commended' nod out of over 300 other entries.
The poem, Anna, celebrates the Boris Anrep mosaic in the Cathedral of Christ the King in Mullingar, and Danny was presented with a certificate by artist Angela Tuite.
Danny Dunne is a historian and retired school principal from Mullingar, and has ten books to his credit, including, The Little Silver Bell, a book of poetry Along the Gravel Road, and The Spindle Tree.
