Local projects that promote diversity awarded funding

Funding of €5,000 has been awarded to two local projects run by Helium Arts and the Mullingar Lithuanian community under the Communities Integration Fund.

The Community Integration Fund was established to provide funding to community projects throughout Ireland that promote the integration of migrants and refugees. Since its inception in 2017, the Communities Integration Fund has supported over 710 projects with grant funding totalling €3.32 million.

Helium Arts was been awarded €5,000 for its Joining the Dots project, while the Mullingar Lithuanian Community is to receive funding for its Family Fun Day. Welcoming the announcement, Minister of State Peter Burke said that he was "delighted to see that two local projects have been successful in receiving grant aid to improve and support community projects".

"This grant aid goes to projects that aim to improve integration and to support and develop vibrant and diverse communities.

“I visit local communities from many diverse backgrounds and supporting them on a local level can make a real difference to building stronger, safer communities,” concluded Minister Burke.
