Graffiti problems at Springfield

Graffiti is becoming an issue again at the Springfield Tunnel in Mullingar - even though it was cleaned off for the 2022 fleadh, members of the Municipal District of Mullingar Kinnegad heard at their June meeting.

“I’d like to see it painted prior to the fleadh again,” said Cllr Mick Dollard as he spoke on his motion requesting that the district outline what plans it has to put in place an anti-graffiti initiative within its area of responsibility.

The response to Cllr Dollard stated that Westmeath County Council purchased graffiti removal kits and they have been issued to the community wardens.

“More are available if required,” the response continued, going on to state that apart from a few localised black spots, graffiti is not a major problem in the district.
