Gaine Park family fun day and Multy duck race

BMB Active joined forces with Multyfarnham Tidy Towns, and Multyfarnham Community Centre and other local community groups to host an eventful day of family fun in Gaine Park, Multyfarnham, last weekend.

A contest was held for the children of St Cremin's National School to come up with an original name for the newly built gazebo in Gaine Park. Congratulations to fourth class pupil, Seamus Clarke on coming up with ‘Áit Chiúin’, (Quiet Sanctuary), the winning entry.

Zoe Garry of sixth class, suggested Lost Fountain, while Tom Loughrey from third class suggested Happy Hexagon. Thanks to all the pupils who entered this competition and congratulations to the winners - who each received a book token for their efforts.

Fr Conor McGee, PP of St Nicholas parish, officiated by cutting the ribbon for the opening of Áit Chiúin.

As well as many games, refreshments, and activities to entertain, the popular Multy Duck Race was central to the festive family fun.

The winning duck was belonging to Sean Mulvey. Second across the line was that of the grandfather of pupils Amber and Young Mahoney, Granddad Mahoney. Saoirse Gorman secured third place.

Jim Bourke, chairman of Multyfarnham Community Centre, was delighted to present Denise Bardon with a Multy Duck Race prize, which she received for her niece Saoirse Gorman, in Gaine Park on Saturday. Denise’s voluntary efforts were much appreciated by the many who enjoyed this community event.

What a pleasure to join friends for afternoon tea on the Irish Sea on board a cruise vessel travelling between Dun Laoghaire and Howth on Wednesday, June 21.
