Event to promote peace at Purple Raven Art Gallery
Actress Mary McEvoy will open a special summer event to promote peace at Purple Raven Art Gallery in Crowenstown with a reading, today, Saturday August 19. The evening event is for friends and neighbors to gather to celebrate life in the name of unity, peace and love.
Both Hazel Revington-Cross and artist Jonathan Von Baumann will be exhibiting their artwork on the night.
Hazel’s art is around the theme of forest school in the animal kingdom and sharing space with humans, inspired by the children from St Patrick’s National School in Crowenstown and their walks through nature.
Jonathan’s work depicts the face of serenity, tranquility and peace using his distinctive style of incorporating gems, unique colour combinations and textures into his work.
During the evening, guests attending can join in some yarn bombing using wool to convert old salvaged bicycle wheels into artistic pieces that will be permanently on display outside the gallery.
There will be an opportunity to watch the short film on the River Deel outdoors, produced by JBN productions (weather dependent). The much-loved ‘Many Mores’, will be joining in the fun that evening with a trad music session.
At the start of the evening, there will be a call for peace in many different languages. Guests can bring along a ribbon to tie on the wishing tree to make a collective wish for unity, peace and love to prevail. Hazel would like to extend a warm invitation to join with her at 7pm and help make this a very special event.
Date: 19 August, 7-10pm: Purple Raven Art, Crowenstown, Delvin. N91FT92.
