'Up for the Game' planned as Westmeath football finals are confirmed

Westmeath GAA is planning an 'Up for the Game' event next Friday night, September 29 ahead of the county football finals.

The event will take place in the Annebrook House Hotel, Mullingar at 8pm and will go live on Iarmhí TV at 9pm.

It will feature previews of the Westmeath Junior 2, Junior 1, Intermediate and Senior football finals which will take place on the weekend of September 30/October 1.

Music, stories and craic are also promised as part of the mix.

The junior 1 (Kilbeggan Shamrocks v St Loman's Mullingar) and intermediate (St Malachy's v Milltownpass) finals will form a double header at TEG Cusack Park on Saturday, September 30.

The following day, Coralstown/Kinnegad will contest their first senior final since 1998 when they face St Loman's Mullingar. This final is set to be preceded by the Division 1 minor football decider between Tubberclair and Mullingar Shamrocks (details of the minor final TBC).

The focus is on hurling this weekend with Southern Gaels (intermediate) and Castletown Geoghegan (senior 'A') among the teams bidding for county final places.
