On June 22, 2023 the school and parish of Raharney marked the retirement of school principal Angela Farrelly. Angela was a teaching principal in St Mary’s NS, Raharney, from 1993 to 2023.
The staff and pupils, with Fr Stan Deegan, joined Angela and her family for a Mass of prayer and hymns in St Brigid’s Church, which was a fitting tribute to Angela’s dedication to the school and community through the years.
After the Mass, a community celebration was held in the school for Angela and her family, and the sun shone down on all the festivities.
Ms Annmarie Downes spoke of all the amazing achievements of Angela as a principal, the efforts she made to cultivate a positive school climate, and to secure a wealth of resources for children and teachers.
Presentations were made to Angela from various groups in the community in appreciation and recognition of her role in that same community.
There were bouncy castles, an ice-cream van and face painting on the day. Delicious refreshments were served by the parents association.
The staff, board of management and school community wish Angela a wonderful retirement, years of good health and a sincere heartfelt thank-you.
