Gardaí appeal for witnesses after fatal road traffic collision

Gardaí are appealing for anyone who may have witnessed a fatal road traffic collision in Westmeath yesterday evening to come forward.

The fatal collision involving a motorcycle and a car occurred on the N55 at Lissoy at around 5.50pm yesterday. The motorcyclist, a male in his late 50s, was fatally injured following the collision.

The man's body was removed to Midland Regional Hospital, Mullingar where a post-mortem will take place. No other injuries were reported.

Garda Forensic Collision Investigators are carrying out an examination of the scene this morning.

Gardaí are appealing to any person who may have witnessed this collision to contact them. Road users with camera footage (including dash-cam) who were travelling in the area at the time are asked to make this available to Gardaí.
