Martin Little claims Captain’s Prize

More than 100 members competed for the Senior Men’s Captain Joe Kelly’s prize on Tuesday. Once again the course was presented in great condition and, with kind weather for the day, good scores would be expected if any prize was to be won.
Played over 15 holes the winner was Martin Little with 38 stableford points and 17 bonus points for a great score of 55. Runner-up was Con Cronin with 35 points and 20 bonus points also for a total of 55.
In third place was Tommie Kelly with 35 points and 19 bonus points also for a total of 54, while in fourth and fifth place were Tom Fitzpatrick and Pat L’Estrange with 35 points and 18 bonus points for a total of 53, and with 33 points and 18 bonus points also for a total of 51 respectively.
The Super senior winner was Martin Ryan with 35 points and 16 Bonus points for a total of 51 and the super super senior winner was Tom Mulvee with 33 points and 17 bonus points for a score of 50. Best score of the day was Eamon Shaw with 35 points. The pick out winners were Ted Eighan, Marius Gavin, Chris Garry and David Farrelly. Later that night Joe had his captain’s dinner which was very well attended and were the prize winners were presented with their prizes. Congratulations to Daddy Joe who had a great year as Senior Captain and best wishes to Pat Reynolds who takes over for next year.
Sunday Competition
Round one of the Hamper competitions sponsored by Mileage Tyres took place over the weekend. Played in lovely autumnal weather conditions the competition drew a large field of 150 competitors. As there are two rounds to the hampers the results from round one will carry over to next week when both rounds are amalgamated. Running concurrently there is also a team competition for about 30 teams of two players each. If players are unable to compete next weekend they should contact the competitions secretary before noon Tuesday 10 Oct.
Egans Order of Merit Summer Series
Presentation will take place on Wednesday 11th of September, all welcome.
Clubhouse - Charity Raffle
Emma Tweedle would like to thank everyone who supported her raffle on Sunday October 1 in the Clubhouse. She will be running the Dublin Marathon in October to raise funds for the Irish Cancer Society. She raised €740 for this great cause and was on hand with refreshments for all on the day. Best wishes to Emma for the Marathon later this month.
Fr Pat Dunne Mixed Foursomes
Congratulations to Fiona and Redmond Burke who held their nerve all the way to the 17th to take the honor of Fr Pat Dunne winners for 2023. It’s a great competition and gets members playing together with some great pairings formed. 2024 hopes to see Brendan Ganly make it beyond the first match, applications to be his playing partner are open imminently.
Well done also to Dave and Sarah Farrelly runners up.

Lady Captain’s Away Day
Lady Captain, Rosemary’s Away Day was a hugely successful outing with 64 Ladies enjoying a great day of golf ,in Millicent Golf Club, Clane on Tuesday last. The beautiful parkland course the superb food the friendly reception from all Millicent members and staff, and proximity to Mullingar made for an ideal outing for everyone. Congratulations and huge thanks to Lady Captain Rosemary to Jackie, Social, and Lady Vice-Captain Sheila and Patricia Hon. Sec. for all their hard work in organising this memorable away day.
The winners on the day with a fantastic 90 points were Paula Davitt, Marion Bate, Kay Browne and Miriam Mac Manus. In second place again with a superb score of 89 pts were Lady Captain Rosemary Whelehan, Lady Vice-Captain Shelia Cassidy, Patricia Smyth and Jackie Mills. Nearest the pin on the 9th was Helen Lynch and on the 15th was Regina Healy. The longest drives on the 7th and 18th went to a very much on form Mary Taaffe. Congratulations and well done on such superb golf to all our winners.
Back in Action
On Wednesday Oct 4th on a cloudy and windy day with intermittent heavy showers our 18 hole singles Stb., was very kindly sponsored by Jeanette Hogan of Back in Action.
The winner on the day was Brege McCarrick playing off 20 with an excellent score of 35pts.
In 2nd place was our Hon Sec Patricia Smyth (35) with a great score of 31pts.
Nearest the Pin was won by Helen Moorhead .Congratulations and great golf from all the winners.
Ladies 9 hole Stb competition was won by our Lady Captain Rosemary Whelehan playing off 7 with 15 pts. There were 28 entries for the 18 hole and 11 entries for the 9 hole competition which reverted to a Sweepstake. Well done Lady Captain.

The Club Fourball for our Joli Hair and Beauty finals took place on Friday Oct 6th last with a tremendous competition between the pairing of Paula Dunne and Ann Marie Fagan Versus Maeve Donnelly and Siobhan O’Donnell Murphy.
On the day with a fantastic match Siobhan and Maeve just came up short with Paula and Ann Marie emerging as the winners on 17th hole. Congratulations to all the players in this closely contested final.
The Club Foursomes competition sponsored by Una Stephens and Cathy Smith has come to the finals, with Ann Marie Fagan and Dorothy O’Keeffe who will battle it out on the Fairways against Sheila Cassidy and Marie O’Brien.
Our Lady Captains 18 hole Matchplay finals will be hotly contested between Helen Moorhead and Elizabeth Mahon before Oct 22nd.
While our Lady Presidents 9 hole Match play is proceeding with next round to be completed by Oct 22nd.

Winter League
Our Winter League competition sheet is currently up in the locker room and entry closes on Sunday October 22nd, so get your name down early.
From Monday Oct 2nd a 9 hole competition will commence for just £2 .Please enter the competition on computer and return on computer, but this is a Non Qualifying competition over the Winter months.
Ladies Central Golf Alliance2023/2024 commenced on Mullingar on Oct 9th.
