Solar farm at Marlinstown

It is proposed to turn the old Marlinstown dump into a solar farm providing renewable energy and possibly a cycle track, Cllr Michael Dollard was told at the October meeting of the Municipal District of Mullingar Kinnegad.

It was stated that Mullingar Sustainable Energy Community propose installing a community-owned solar farm there. It would provide renewable energy and potentially an outdoor recreation facility such as a cycle track.

The council’s environment section are preparing a feasibility study, which will be completed in the next couple of months, but any project will be subject to planning and funding.
