There’s a book in all of us, says Tony Viney
Workshops on self-publishing
Anthony Viney, author of recently published On the Road to Damascus, has held a series of workshops, entitled ‘There’s a Book in All of Us’, at Mullingar and Castlepollard Libraries.
Anthony said the workshops are of interest to “anyone thinking of writing a memoir, romance or the next thriller”, and he focused on the nuts and bolts of the self-publishing process, giving participants the confidence to explore that option.
He also highlighted the help available, including the combined expertise of the Inklings writing group, who meet on Tuesday mornings at the Annebrook House Hotel.
As one attendee, Jacqui Wiley, from Mullingar, commented: “Anthony covered all the practicalities. I feel a lot more knowledgeable and confident about the whole process now.”
Anthony thanked the staff at Mullingar and Castlepollard Libraries for their support and said he hopes to provide similar workshops to other libraries and organisations in Westmeath and beyond.
If he has one message for aspiring writers who want to self-publish it is: “Just do it.”
And if anyone is wondering whether there is a book in all of us, Anthony tells us to listen to the man in the famous lager advert: ‘Probably.’
