Tracey Campbell and Brian Sweeney on Friday.The weeks leading up to Halloween were alive with scary activity at the various Muíriosa Foundation centres around Mullingar. That’s because the team held a spooky door competition for 12 residential houses, and the local mayor performed the judging on Friday afternoon.
Residents of all abilities contributed to make their doors the spookiest, and the judging took place over two days, by two of the people that attend day services in the region – Anne Cosgrove and Danny Shyrane, on October 26; and Donal Loughrey, who attends day services, with Cllr John Shaw, cathaoirleach of the Municipal District of Mullingar Kinnegad on October 27.
There was great friendly competition among the staff in the houses, as they sought to win the overall prize, which was just one of the many donated by local companies.
“We greatly appreciate all the donations, which made our competition so exciting,” said a spokesperson for the Muíriosa Foundation.
The prizegiving was at one of the day service centres, Cill Cuan, on Friday last, and the prize for the spookiest door went to College View, Mullingar. Second prize was awarded to Knockeyon View, Crookedwood, and third to Lir 6, Multyfarnham.
Olive Monaghan and Declan Griffin won the best dressed staff prizes, and all the houses received prizes for their efforts over the last few weeks.
