Filming on Liam's latest work in Mullingar and Rochfortbridge
Shooting of Liam Hall Walshe’s eagerly awaited latest movie, Standing on the Shoulders of Giants, is scheduled to take place in Mullingar and Rochfortbridge over the next two weekends.
This dynamic young actor, director, filmmaker is already known for D’Lads, D’Lads: Lost in Dublin, and Vigilantes, which were released last year. He is joined on this latest endeavour by sound recordist Cian Moynihan from Mullingar.
Standing on the Shoulders of Giants tells the story of Becky (played by Jennifer Kilmurry from Dublin), who is dealing with the trauma of a personal loss, trying to juggle her amateur boxing career and her academic career, and dealing with outside pressure from her unrelenting father.
Speaking to the Westmeath Examiner ahead of filming, Liam revealed that Johnny O’Callaghan will be flying over from Los Angeles this weekend to act in the film.
Johnny’s one man show, ‘Who’s Your Daddy’, has recently played to sold out houses in LA, New York, Edinburgh and Toronto, and has won numerous awards.
Johnny has had many stage and screen successes in Ireland and America, and has established a private therapy and coaching practice in the Hollywood Hills, which is thriving on Zoom.
With this film, Liam wants to showcase that powerful character-driven narratives can be made in Westmeath.
He wants to inspire a new generation of independent filmmakers within the county and ultimately, to make Mullingar the filmmaking capital of Ireland.
Liam has set up the Westmeath Filmmakers Collective to bring together a network of actors, filmmakers, directors, and crew available in the area. His aim is to build avenues for grassroots screen acting and filmmaking opportunities as well as nourishing professional film productions in Westmeath.
