Delvin man selected to contest local elections for Sinn Féin
David Jones, from Delvin, has been selected to represent Sinn Féin in the 2024 local elections in the Mullingar Kinnegad Municipal District.
In a statement released this week, Sinn Féin said that Mr Jones's "commitment to the public and community development is deeply rooted and unwavering".
"From a very young age, David has been actively involved in his community, demonstrating a deep-seated passion his community and others. His dedication has been instrumental in the success of numerous committees, which has raised a substantial amount for various charities and causes.
"David's work extends beyond fundraising. He has been actively working closely with Sinn Féin TDs Johnny Guirke and Sorca Clarke since their election, striving to build stronger, more resilient communities.
"David recently made the career change from being a support worker for people with disabilities to a Parliamentary Assistant for Deputy Johnny Guirke, a role David says has been beneficial in gaining the experience needed to fight for communities and constituents.
"This collaboration has been pivotal, ensuring that the voices of his community are heard and their needs are met. His tireless efforts have resulted in significant improvements in local communities right across the Kinnegad electoral area.
"David's commitment to his community is matched by his dedication to the principles and values of Sinn Féin. He firmly believes in the party's vision of a united, equal, and prosperous Ireland and stronger communities.
"His candidacy for the local elections is driven by his desire to bring this vision in Kinnegad LEA. David Jones is not just a candidate; he is a passionate advocate for those who call him for help or advice.
"His track record speaks volumes about his ability to effect meaningful change. As he steps forward to represent Sinn Féin in the 2024 local elections, David carries with him the hopes and aspirations of his community, ready to represent all to the best of his ability."
