Westmeath students appointed ambassadors at Maynooth
Following a university-wide recruitment process, Ruth Kelly and Christopher Lynn from Westmeath have been appointed student ambassadors in St Patrick’s Pontifical University, Maynooth (SPPU).
Ruth is a former student of Wilson’s Hospital School, and Christopher is a past pupil of Coláiste Mhuire, Mullingar.
Ambassadors are a link for incoming students, and assist with orientation activities, provide campus tours and are on hand with advice and recommendations on how best to transition from second level into life at university.
The student ambassadors also assist at university events throughout the year, passing on their experiences of life at St Patrick’s Pontifical University.
On studying at SPPU, Ruth said: “Being a BA in Theology (BaTh) student allows you to meet and connect with people from every corner of the globe. I find studying theology rounds you as a person and immerses you into a world you never thought you’d explore.
“Being in such close proximity to Maynooth town, the train station and Dublin are all huge contributing factors as to why studying in SPPU is a great choice for anyone.”
Christopher said: “Choosing what to study after the Leaving Cert was a difficult decision to make, yet I am certain that choosing St Patrick’s Pontifical University was the right one decision. The ability to study at both St Patrick’s Pontifical University and Maynooth University makes for the best possible experience. My lectures and tutorials are small enough to allow me to make connections between both my lecturers and my fellow students.”
St Patrick’s Pontifical University Maynooth
St Patrick’s Maynooth opened as an educational institution in 1795. In the two centuries since, it has established a reputation for scholarship and learning, and today, as a Pontifical University, St Patrick’s specialises in the study of theology and philosophy at both postgraduate and undergraduate level and related areas, in one of the most beautiful campuses in Ireland.
